Mission Statement:

(The website for Emerging Music Network has been temporarily forwarded to this page, to reach EMN staff please email info@EmergingMusicNetwork.com)

The mission of The Heather J. Kwiate Foundation is to create positive change in the lives of those impacted by domestic violence, to raise awareness, and to develop sustainable strategies for prevention. The Foundation provides a network that includes access to safe-havens for the abused and their families. By empowering them through emotional support, emergency funding, job skills training, and other educational opportunities we strive to give help and hope to those in need in an effort to End the Silence and STOP the VIOLENCE!

Kids Can Make a Difference

Erica-14 Year Old Volunteer
Saturday, April 23rd we will start our day going out to bring food to the people who call the bridges "home". It is not an easy thing to do, but we will be there with friends and family to help those in need. Afterward, we will head over to the shelter and start making plans for Phase 2 for the 7 Bridges to Recovery shelter. The amount of support we are receiving is wonderful and inspiring.
Members of Heather's family will be joined by old friends and new.

These opportunities have not only helped the homeless, the abused, and many children from abusive homes, it has helped our family as well. Ms. Erica,
(the 14 year-old daughter of Heather's cousin) will be leading the way and setting an example for other young people to get involved in making a difference. Erica joined us on our last trip and worked as hard as all of the grown men who were there. She is an inspiration to her classmates, teachers, and her family. Not many 14-year-old young ladies would choose to do this kind of work instead of going to the mall on a Saturday. She is proof that you can never be too young to be a leader. We hope that more people will join us as the weeks and months and years pass, as we continue to work toward a more comfortable life for others.

Our Phase 2 project will be a much needed labor of love for the women and children of the 7 Bridges shelter, we will share more news on that soon. So, stay tuned here on our blog, join us to work on our project, or make a donation to the cause. We will be putting up a "wish list" for our Phase 2 project as soon as the plans are set. Never underestimate the power of spreading the word. we mentioned to a friend last week that we were looking for a particular item to help us get started, he had no idea where to find this item. But, he posted it on his Facebook, and we had it the very next day! Thanks to John Kearney for doing that AND for delivering it to us during his busy day!

Get your kids involved. You will be surprised and proud of what they are capable of, I know I am very proud of my little girl. :)
