The Foundation provides a network that includes access to safe-havens for the abused and their families. By empowering them through emotional support, emergency funding, job skills training, and other educational opportunities we strive to give help and hope to those in need in an effort to End the Silence and STOP the VIOLENCE!

HeathersVoice.org Launch Party

So much planning in such a short time has left us all exhausted! The launch party at Kennesaw State University on March 22, 2011 was a wonderful success on so many levels.
With all good intentions, we had planned to post an update here just after the launch, so we apologize for the delay. But, the wait was worth it.

The launch party was hosted by KSU on the Campus Green during the lunch hours and, as we had hoped, the event drew a large crowd. Local favorites Chameleon and The Wayward Hounds performed during the 90 minute event, drawing plenty of attention to the stage. The performances were immaculate and our guest speakers, Professor Shannon Ferketish, SIFE President, Dennis Loubiere, and Ray Nelson from Guitars Not Guns, commanded the attention of over 300 people to share the vision of Heather's Voice.

Our sponsors helped quite a bit, we could not have gotten through this without the support of Paddy's Irish Eatery who supplied us with amazing food for the event! Kennesaw State's SIFE Team, Leadership Studies, and the Joel A. Katz Music & Entertainment Business Program played integral parts in helping us pull off an event of this magnitude with roughly four weeks time.

The event was planned as a celebration of the life of Heather Jeannine Kwiate who lost her life in a domestic violence dispute in February of 2010, she was just 23 years old. The event was also about sharing her story in order to let other victims know that we, Heather's Voice, are here to provide support for anyone who finds themselves in a dangerous situation.

During the event, the very first Heather's Voice t-shirts were unveiled and sold to raise funds needed for the many programs that we are supporting. With the help of many volunteers, we delivered our message, shared Heather's story, and raised over $700 which will go directly back into the Foundation.

This event was inspiring and helped us reach a lot of people. Thank you to everyone that attended, worked, and volunteered to make this a bigger event than we had even imagined. Heather's Voice sponsored another event the same week, on March 25th. More on that event soon!
